The Newbie Award, introduced in 2023, recognizes the local, first-time competing dog and handler team in the annual Rally trial who earn the highest combined score in the Novice class. It celebrates newcomers who demonstrate teamwork, enthusiasm, and dedication, qualities that echo the warmth and spirit Geralyn shared with our community.

This award is presented in memory of Geralyn Counsell, whose love for dogs, rally, and positive training inspired so many around her. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering support meant so much to so many, and we’re proud to carry her legacy forward through this award each year.
